San Gerado - Beach house, Camber Sands, 2006.
The house is a remodeling of a 1930's wooden hut of a kind which were once characteristic of the seaside village of Camber. Over the years many of the original huts have been converted into brick bungalows. The project converts and extends the rather cramped existing hut into a modern, spacious weekend retreat. In doing so it retains something of the provisional character of the original architecture whilst making reference to both the surrounding context and to the nautical themes traditionally associated with seaside architecture.
