FAT were asked to develop a design for the temporary home for collections belonging to the Kuwait National Museum during the main sites re-development. The site for the temporary museum is an early 20th century hospital. The design challenge was integrate displays and information within the existing fabric of the building.

The brief comprised gallery spaces, temporary exhibition areas, a shop and a cafe. The design principles took reference from materials and patterns from the museums collection of Islamic and Pre-Islamic art and objects. These were filtered through modern techniques such as laser cutting.
