Fat's winning entry in the Scotswood Expo housing design competition proposes an updating of the terrace house for the 21st century. Two units are proposed for a 24m deep plot: a 3-5 bedroom family house and a one bed mews flat that could also form an extended part of the main house. The family house has a compact, almost square plan which can provide up to 5 bedrooms over 3 storeys and allows adaptation over time. The mews flat is located over a garage space which can also be used as a Live/Work unit.

The design aims to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 5 and utilises a highly insulated, air-tight construction methods, rainwater harvesting, PV cells and district heating systems. The layouts are designed to Lifetimes Homes requirements.
